A man was mortally wounded in a Lancaster shooting, authorities said Saturday.

The shooting was reported at about 8:05 p.m. Friday in the 44300 block of Cedar Avenue, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

The victim was taken by ambulance to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, said sheriff’s officials. His name was not released pending the notification of relatives.

Sheriff’s homicide detectives were conducting a crime scene investigation to determine the circumstances of the shooting, officials said.
