Two people were arrested and 16 motorists were cited during a DUI checkpoint in Menifee over the weekend.

Police conducted the checkpoint from 7 p.m. Saturday to 2 a.m. Sunday near the intersection of Domenigoni Parkway and Laguna Vista.

Of the 1,224 vehicles screened, one person was arrested on suspicion of DUI and another person was arrested on suspicion of resisting, delaying or obstructing an officer while performing their duties, according to the Menifee Police Department.

In addition, officers cited 10 drivers for allegedly driving without a license.

“The Menifee Police Department is committed to preventing, deterring and arresting impaired drivers in Menifee and will continue to make it a top priority,” police said.

Funding for the checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety.
