Sheriff’s homicide detectives Wednesday are investigating the discovery of a body that was found in a field in Santa Clarita after firefighters extinguished a brush fire.
The Los Angeles County Fire Department was called around 10 p.m. Tuesday to the intersection of Penlon Way and Soledad Canyon Road regarding a half-acre brush fire that was burning behind a gated community, according to reports from the scene.
After extinguishing the fire, firefighters discovered a body in the heavy brush and contacted the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, NBC4 reported. Deputies from the Santa Clarita Valley station responded to the scene, cordoned off the area and turned the scene over to homicide investigators, ABC7 reported.
The cause of the fire also remains under investigation.
