An innocent bystander was caught in the crossfire of a shooting between two suspects Friday in the Vermont Knolls neighborhood of South Los Angeles, which police say was gang-related.
Los Angeles Police Department officers from the department’s 77th Division responded to West 74th and Figueroa streets at 12:08 a .m. Friday regarding a shooting. When they arrived, officers learned the victim was walking on the sidewalk when he heard shots from two passing cars. He then suddenly felt pain in his face and realized that he had been shot, an LAPD spokesman told City News Service.
The victim was able to walk to a nearby Chevron gas station, where he was taken to a hospital by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics in stable condition, police said.
There were no suspect or vehicle descriptions available.
