A child abuse investigation led to the arrest of a man and a woman for suspected child abuse and drug trafficking at a Riverside home, authorities said Saturday.
The investigation began in mid-May when the Riverside Police Department learned three children may have been physically abused by their parents at the home in the 7900 block of Magnolia Avenue, according to Officer Ryan J. Railsback.
“By then, the children had already been removed by Riverside County Child Protective Services and placed in temporary foster care,” Railsback said. “During the investigation, detectives also suspected the parents were trafficking illegal narcotics from the home.”
Detectives served a search warrant at the home on July 15 and seized over 900 grams of suspected heroin, more than 300 grams of cocaine, approximately 155 grams of ecstasy and nearly 200 grams of suspected fentanyl pills, he said. The detectives also found cash and packaging materials.
“The drugs were found in areas easily accessible to the children, and detectives believe the children were also exposed to the manufacturing and distribution of the narcotics,” Railsback said.
Thirty-one-year-old Miguel Jacobo and 34-year-old Alma Dominguez were arrested and remained without bail in the Robert Presley Detention Center, he said.
Jacobo was booked for suspicion of narcotics violations, child abuse and child endangerment among other felony charges and Dominguez was booked for suspicion of felony child endangerment, Railsback said.
