A 35-year-old man charged with sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl nearly five years ago and raping and robbing a woman last year in Anaheim was also accused of sexually assaulting a woman in Garden Grove three years ago, police said Tuesday.
For the Anaheim cases, Victor Hernandez Cortes was charged Monday with single counts each of rape and robbery and three counts of lewd acts with a minor younger than 14, all felonies. He also faces a sentencing enhancement for the use of a deadly weapon.
But in July of 2022, he allegedly lured a 51-year-old woman into his car at Beach Boulevard and Chapman Avenue in Stanton with an offer to buy her a drink, Garden Grove police Sgt. Nick Jensen said. The two drove around and ended up in an alley near Brookhust and Chapman where he allegedly raped her and then forced her out of the car, Jensen said.
The woman, who has since died, called police, Jensen said. Investigators did not have any leads until recently, Jensen said.
Cortes allegedly met a 13-year-old girl in an Anaheim park, lured her into his car and sexually assaulted her on Nov. 26, 2020, according to Anaheim police Sgt. Matt Sutter.
Cortes also allegedly hired a 30-year-old sex worker Oct. 26, 2024, took her in his car and raped and robbed her at knifepoint, Sutter said.
Cortes did not enter a plea at his arraignment Monday in the jail courtroom in Santa Ana. He was scheduled to be arraigned Aug. 22 in the North Justice Center in Fullerton.
