A vegetation fire that broke out Wednesday in Coachella charred three-and-a-half acres before it was stopped.
The non-injury blaze was reported shortly after 3 p.m. Wednesday at southbound state Route 86 and the Airport Boulevard off-ramp, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
The agency said a dozer and other additional resources were requested to assist at the scene.
Crews will remain at the scene for several hours for mop-up work.
