A small vegetation fire that broke out Thursday along westbound Interstate 10 in Whitewater burned less than a quarter acre before crews contained it.
The non-injury blaze was reported about 3:13 p.m. Thursday near the Haugen Lehmann exit, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
The agency said four engines and a water tender responded to the scene and encountered flames burning in a roughly 20-by-300-foot area.
Crews contained the fire shortly before 4 p.m.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
