A small vegetation fire burned less than a quarter acre Thursday along westbound Interstate 10 in Whitewater.
The non-injury blaze was reported around 3:13 p.m. Thursday near the Haugen Lehmann exit, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
Four engines and a water tender responded to the scene and encountered flames burning in a roughly 20-by-300-foot area, the department said.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
