Police Monday were seeking witnesses to a crash in Culver City that left three people injured, one of them seriously, and a driver under arrest for allegedly operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
The crash was reported about 1:45 p.m. Sunday near the intersection of Canterbury Drive and Green Valley Circle, according to the Culver City Police Department.
“The incident involved an adult male driver who struck multiple parked vehicles,” police said.
A woman standing near one of the parked vehicles suffered serious injuries, while a man and a child inside another struck vehicle sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
All three were taken to a hospital, as was the suspect, who remained at the scene and also sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
“Preliminary investigation indicates the driver was traveling northbound on Canterbury Drive when the collision occurred,” police said. “Upon release from the hospital, the driver was arrested and booked at the Culver City Jail for suspicion of driving under the influence.”
It was unclear if the driver was suspected of driving while under the influence of drugs, alcohol or both.
His name, age and place of residence were not disclosed.
The crash and investigation closed Canterbury Drive between Green Valley Circle and Kensington Way.
Anyone who witnessed the crash or has relevant video from residential or vehicle cameras was urged to contact Culver City police Sgt. Kyle Houck by calling 310-253-6260 or via email at kyle.houck@culvercitypd.org.
