A man arrested in connection with a fatal shooting in Long Beach was charged Tuesday with a pair of weapons offenses.
Sean Jeffery Richson, 39, of Los Angeles, was charged with a felony count of possession of a firearm with a prior violent conviction, and one count of possession of ammunition.
Richson was arrested Friday and booked on suspicion of murder in connection with the killing of Rickie Taylor, 27, of Long Beach, who was shot around 11:15 p.m. Thursday near Long Beach Boulevard and Bort Street in the Coolidge Park neighborhood. Taylor died at a hospital, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
Richson on Tuesday was charged only with the pair of weapons offenses. He was not charged with murder. It was unclear if that portion of the case was still under investigation.
Richson was being held in lieu of $2 million bail, according to jail records.
Police said Richson and Taylor were believed to have been involved in “in an interaction involving a family matter, which escalated into the shooting.”
No other details were released.
