The U.S. Coast Guard suspended its search for a 30-year-old woman who was reported missing after personal belongings were found unattended south of the Venice Beach Pier Wednesday evening, authorities said Friday.
Coast Guard personnel received a report around 8:45 p.m. Wednesday from the Los Angeles Police Department that a good Samaritan discovered a phone, shoes, wallet and passport on the sand belonging to Ashanta Ayana Elise Cobb-McNeil, according to USCG officials.
As of 7:20 p.m. Thursday, after multiple law enforcement agencies combed about 65 square miles over the course of 21 hours, utilizing helicopters, small boats and cutter, the search for Cobb-McNeil, a Las Vegas resident, who sometimes went by the name “Loni Legend,” was suspended, officials confirmed.
“It is always difficult to suspend a search for a missing person. We put a lot of thought and care into the decision,” Capt. Stacey Crecy said, commander of Coast Guard Sector Los Angeles-Long Beach. “Our hearts go out to Ashanta’s family, friends and loved ones. We are grateful to our partner agencies and everyone who assisted in the search.”
According to the USCG, at the time of the initial report, weather conditions in the area recorded air and water temperatures at 67.5 degrees, with winds between 3 to 6 miles per hour.
Personnel from Coast Guard Sector Ventura, San Diego, and personnel from the Los Angeles Police, Fire and Sheriff’s Department assisted in the effort.
Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Cobb-McNeil was urged to contact the local authorities.

Hell let me guess you found a suspicious package on the beach and you thought it was a woman that ran into the water and drowned herself and you spent 20 trillion dollars on every God damn certain rescue company in the fucking State of California so you could go out and look for the woman because you found her bag on the fucking beaches suspicious package right. Please tell me you had more sense than that!
How did you call the phone number in the bag too man maybe it’ll work for her she’ll pick up the phone in Vegas tell you she’s okay
But thank God the taxpayers had to pay that 20 million dollars to search the whole state of California for a dead body in the fucking ocean right can’t you get them any more education
