A man suspected in the fatal stabbing of a Washington state woman in an attack that also left a man injured was arrested Tuesday in the Los Angeles area, following the earlier discovery of his car in Calabasas.

Police in Longview, Washington, said Alexander Lee Rogers, 51, was arrested by the Los Angeles Police Department, although no details of the arrest were immediately released.

Authorities said Monday that Rogers’ unoccupied black BMW was found in Calabasas, leading investigators to believe he was in the area and prompting a local manhunt.

Officials from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Lost Hills station said Monday deputies had located the vehicle in the 23000 block of Calabasas Road.

Rogers, of Longview, Washington, is suspected in the Aug. 5 killing of Dawn Peters, 64, and the attempted murder of Andrew Peters, 73, according to the Longview Police Department.

Both victims were also Longview residents.
