Homicide detectives Thursday sought the public’s help as they investigate the death of a 43-year-old homeless woman whose body was found in a tent in an Anaheim field.
Anaheim Police Department and Anaheim Fire & Rescue personnel responded about 3 a.m. Tuesday to the 2100 block of West Crescent Avenue to investigate a report of a woman who was unconscious and bleeding at the location.
“Upon arrival, they located a deceased woman, 43-year-old Jessica Elaine Crummel of Anaheim, inside a tent in a large unoccupied field on the north side of the street,” said Anaheim police spokesman Sgt. Matt Sutter.
The initial investigation found the death to be a homicide, he said.
Crummel was living out of a tent at the time she was killed, Sutter said.
The lot is near a Home Depot and an industrial complex. It is enclosed by a fence, but a hole had been cut out to provide access, Sutter said.
A friend of the victim found her and called police, according to Sutter.
Detectives are asking anyone with information regarding Crummel or her death to call Anaheim police at 714-321-3669 or Orange County Crime Stoppers at 855-TIP-OCCS.
