Cathedral City Police officers Thursday are investigating the fatal shooting of a man found dead in Cathedral City.
Officers from the Cathedral City Police Department received several 911 calls regarding a shooting at 8 p.m. Wednesday and responded to the intersection of Whispering Palms Trail and Mission Indian Trail, where they found a man suffering from gunshot wounds lying on the ground, said Cathedral City Police Cmdr. Jon Enos.
The officers began CPR measures until Cathedral City Fire Department paramedics arrived and began life -saving measures, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Detectives arrived and as they began their investigation of the shooting, they learned the victim and two others were walking on Whispering Palms when a vehicle approached them and a confrontation began. During the argument, a person inside the vehicle fired at the group, striking the victim, causing fatal injuries, Enos said.
Police said the description of the car the shooter was traveling in was a dark colored sedan, last seen driving north on Whispering Palms towards Ramon Road.
