A woman was killed in a three-vehicle collision Monday in Hemet.

Detectives determined, based on a preliminary investigation, that a silver Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck was traveling northbound on Warren Road at Poplar Street moments before the driver drifted into the lanes, sideswiping a blue Chevrolet Cruze subcompact car, traveling southbound on Warren Road, according to the Hemet Police Department.

The driver of the Cruze then lost control of the car and it slid sideways into the opposing northbound lanes, causing a silver Toyota Tundra pickup truck traveling northbound on Warren Road to collide with the passenger side of the Cruze, police said.

The Communication Center received several calls at approximately 6:02 a.m. Monday, regarding a collision, where officers located an unresponsive female driver upon arrival.

She was given medical aid, but despite the life-saving measures, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Her name was withheld pending notification of relatives.

A second victim was taken to University Health System Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The third driver remained at the scene and was cooperative with investigators, police said.

It was unclear if the person sustained any injuries.

According to police, detectives determined that drugs or alcohol were not factors leading to the fatal collision.

Warren Road was closed between Simpson Road and Mustang Way for approximately five hours to allow for investigation of the collision.

Anyone with information regarding the collision was urged to call Hemet Police Department traffic investigators at 951-765-2400.
