A Los Angeles Fire Department rescue ambulance was struck by a car in Reseda Wednesday while transporting a patient to a hospital, and a battalion chief responding to the scene was later involved in a separate crash.

The first collision was reported at 9:06 a.m. at Lindley Avenue and Vanowen Street, according to the LAFD’s Lyndsey Lantz.

A car struck the ambulance, which was carrying a patient. No one was injured in that crash, and a second ambulance completed the transport, Lantz said.

The responding battalion chief was then involved in another collision that sent one person to a hospital, Lantz said. It was not immediately clear whether the injured person was the battalion chief or a civilian.

The circumstances of both crashes were under investigation.
