A driver who refused to pull over for deputies Wednesday led them on a pursuit through Rancho Mirage before surrendering near Highway 111, authorities said.
The chase began about 8:11 a.m. when deputies attempted a traffic stop for a code violation at Frank Sinatra and Bob Hope drives, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
The motorist, who was not identified, failed to yield and initiated a pursuit, Lt. Deirdre Vickers said.
The vehicle eventually stopped near Highway 111 and Thunderbird Road, where deputies negotiated with the driver to surrender, Vickers said.
The suspect was taken into custody and hospitalized with minor injuries, though it was not immediately clear how the injuries occurred.
The investigation remained ongoing.
