Firefighters knocked down flames from the tractor portion of a tractor-trailer in Arleta Sunday, authorities said.

Firefighters were dispatched at 8:30 a.m. Sunday to the northbound Golden State (5) Freeway, just north of Terra Bella Street, where the tractor-trailer had pulled to the side of the road, well-involved with fire, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

“The driver was able to escape safely with no injuries,” the LAFD’s Lyndsey Lantz said. “The trailer tank, carrying used cooking oil, was exposed but not involved with fire. Firefighters have fully extinguished all flames.”
