A 65-year-old motorist who was killed in a two-vehicle crash on the Foothill (210) Freeway in Claremont, was identified Thursday by county authorities.
The victim, Tracy Willis, was identified by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office.
The crash occurred at about 8 a.m. Saturday on the eastbound freeway west of Monte Vista Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The preliminary investigation revealed a brown Mini Cooper had become disabled and was stopped, unoccupied, on the right shoulder of the freeway, the CHP said. A white Ford Focus sedan drifted to the right onto the shoulder and rear-ended the Mini Cooper, the CHP said.
The driver of the Focus– Willis– suffered major injuries, the CHP said. Paramedics took him to a hospital where he was pronounced dead at 8:25 a.m.
A Sigalert issued at 8:26 a.m. shutting down lanes 3 and 4 of the eastbound freeway for the investigation was reopened as of 9:35 a.m.
