Eight people were taken into custody following the execution of a search warrant in an unincorporated area between Watts and Lynwood, stemming from a cargo theft investigation, authorities announced Thursday.

Detectives from the Major Crimes Bureau Cargo Criminal Apprehension Team responded to the 13000 block of Alameda Street on Wednesday, where they took eight individuals into custody, according to the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.

A search warrant was executed at the location following a cargo theft investigation conducted by Century Station Patrol deputies, sheriff’s officials said.

During the operation, approximately $1.4 million worth of Acer computers, an AK-47 rifle, a Smith & Wesson 9mm handgun, about two pounds of methamphetamine, seven stolen vehicles, including a tractor semi-truck, and a 53-foot trailer were seized.

The names of the eight suspects were not disclosed, and it remains unclear what each person was booked for.

Anyone with information regarding the cargo theft was urged to call the Major Crimes Bureau at 562-946-7893. Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477 or visit lacrimestoppers.org.
