Police and security were present Friday at several schools in Desert Hot Springs as a precaution following social media posts that threatened violence targeted at DHS Middle School.
“Families, we are aware of social media posts circulating regarding a possible safety threat to our campuses,” Desert Hot Springs Police Department announced in a social media post Wednesday.
It was not immediately known the messages behind the social media posts.
The department stated Thursday that “We do not feel that any of these posts are credible threats to any of our Desert Hot Springs campuses.”
Nevertheless, increased police officers and district security were expected to remain for an unspecified amount of time Friday.
Anyone with information about the social media posts was asked to contact Detective Celia Romero at 760-329-6411, or at cromero@dhspd.com.
