Two women riding electric scooters were critically injured in a crash with a box truck in Fullerton, authorities said Sunday.

Officers were dispatched at about 7 p.m. Saturday to Association Road and Yorba Linda Boulevard, according to spokeswoman Kristy Wells of the Fullerton Police Department.

The women were riding their scooters southbound on Association Road in the number two lane when the truck, also going southbound in the number two lane, collided with both riders, Wells said. Officers located them in the roadway with “significant life-threatening injuries” and the white box truck in close proximity, she said.

Paramedics rushed the women to a hospital in critical condition.

“At this time, alcohol, and/or drugs do not appear to be a factor in this collision,” Wells added.

Anyone with information regarding the crash was urged to call the police department at 714-738-6812 or email jmunoz@fullertonpd.org. Anonymous tips can be made to occrimestoppers.org or 855-847-6227.
