The Los Angeles Police Department Monday is seeking the public’s assistance in finding the driver who struck and killed a 23-year-old pedestrian in Venice and drove away from the scene.
The male victim was crossing Washington at Lincoln boulevards in a marked crosswalk on Sept. 20 round 1:58 a.m., the LAPD said in a press release. As the pedestrian was crossing the street, he was hit by a blue SUV.
The driver of the SUV failed to stop, identify themselves and render aid at the scene of the traffic collision as required by law. The vehicle was last seen fleeing eastbound on Washington Boulevard, police said.
The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the scene and provided immediate medical attention to the male pedestrian. He was taken to a local a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead, the LAPD said.
A reward of up to $50,000 has been authorized by the Los Angeles City Council and available to community members who provide information leading to the offender’s identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.
