A 22-year-old man fatally stabbed in Long Beach — where another man was also injured — was identified Monday, and police said the suspect and both victims were roommates.
The suspect, identified as 34-year-old Alejandro Iniestra, was booked on suspicion of murder and attempted murder, with bail set at $2 million, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
Officers responded around 10:30 a.m. Saturday to the 1300 block of Temple Avenue after receiving a call to assist the fire department. They found two men suffering from stab wounds, police said.
Long Beach Fire Department personnel determined that one victim died at the scene, while the second was taken to a hospital in stable condition.
The deceased victim was identified Monday by the county Medical Examiner’s office as Spencer Timms, who suffered multiple stab wounds to the chest.
Iniestra was still at the scene when officers arrived and was taken into custody, police said. The preliminary investigation indicated that the suspect and victims were roommates, though the motive for the attack remains under investigation, according to police.
Anyone with information about the case was urged to contact homicide Detectives Juan Carlos Reyes or Jesus Espinoza at 562-570-7244. Anonymous tips may also be submitted through LA Crime Stoppers by calling 800-222-TIPS (8477).

This is the 3rd time in the past 10 years that the Industrial design program has lost a student to horrific circumstances. First, Nohemi Gonzalez, killed in Paris attacks, Alena Gretencord, who was run over on 2nd street a few years after that, and now Spencer Timms.
