A 44-year-old woman was charged Wednesday with a drunk-driving crash that happened while an 8-year-old boy was in the car in Westminster.
Arleen Daday Garcia was charged with a felony count of child abuse and endangerment as well as misdemeanor counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, driving with a blood-alcohol level of .08% or more and hit-and-run with property damage.
Garcia pleaded not guilty at her arraignment Wednesday in the jail courtroom in Santa Ana. She was scheduled to return to court Oct. 16 in the West Justice Center in Westminster.
The single-car collision happened on Garden Grove Boulevard near the Garden Grove (22) Freeway at about 6:15 p.m. Monday, police said. She is related to the boy who was in the car, police said.
Garcia’s blood-alcohol content was .213, according to the criminal complaint.
Garcia pleaded guilty to burglary and receiving stolen property in September 2013, according to the criminal complaint.
