A woman was struck by a hit-and-run driver while walking in a crosswalk in Valley Glen Friday and was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
Officers were called about 9:20 a.m. Friday to Chandler and Van Nuys boulevards regarding a collision involving a pedestrian and a vehicle, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Police said the woman was crossing Chandler Boulevard northbound inside the crosswalk when she was hit by a silver Lexus NX350H traveling eastbound. The driver continued without stopping.
Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded and took the woman to a hospital, where she was listed in critical condition. The extent of her injuries was not disclosed.
“Motorists are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves,” the police department said in a statement.
A reward of up to $50,000 was being offered for information leading to the identification, arrest and conviction of the suspect.
