One of two people fatally shot in the Windsor Square neighborhood of Los Angeles was identified Friday.
Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Wilshire Area were called to the 200 block of North Ridgewood Place between Beverly Boulevard and First Street at approximately 11:45 p.m. Wednesday regarding a shooting and found a man and a woman suffering from gunshot wounds, LAPD Lt. Sean Kinchla of the department’s Robbery Homicide Division told reporters.
The victims were pronounced dead at the scene by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner on Friday identified the woman as 34-year-old Jenna Baeza, who died from a gunshot wound to the neck.
Kinchla said a second woman was also wounded in the shooting and was taken to a hospital, but she is expected to survive.
“We’re still in the early stages of the investigation,” Kinchla said. “It appears to be an isolated incident.”
Police have not confirmed reports that the shooting may have been a murder-suicide. ABC7 reported that the dead man was 39-years-old and is believed to have been the shooter, while the woman who survived is 70.
Fox11 reported a handgun police believe was used in the shooting was recovered at the scene.
The LAPD’s West Bureau Homicide was investigating the shooting, Kinchla said.
