An uninjured person was found in a storm drain Thursday in Cypress Park, prompting a rescue operation.

Firefighters responded at 1:22 p.m. to the 3200 block of North Arroyo Seco Avenue to reports of an individual in a confined space needing rescue, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Crews were working to get through a gate covering the storm drain to reach the person. The operation prompted a closure of the southbound Harbor (110) Freeway transition to the Golden State (5) Freeway.

Motorists were advised to take an alternate route.

It was unclear how the person wound up in the drain.
