An approximately 50-year-old woman was struck and killed by a hit and run driver near the Hansen Dam Recreation Area in Lake View Terrace and police Friday are searching for the driver.
Los Angeles Fire Department firefighters were called at 8:34 p.m. Thursday to 11738 Foothill Blvd., near Kagel Canyon, regarding a collision, LAFD spokeswoman Margaret Stewart said.
The driver was traveling north on Foothill when they struck the victim, who was walking outside of a crosswalk, a Los Angeles Police Department spokeswoman told City News Service.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, Stewart said. The driver did not stop to help the victim and drove away from the scene in an unknown direction, the LAPD said.
ABC 7 reported a second victim was also injured and taken to a hospital in an unknown condition.
The cause of the crash will be investigated by the LAPD.
