A 40-year-old man suspected of stealing about $5,000 worth of camera equipment from Jurupa Valley City Hall was out on bail Monday.
Efren Samano of Jurupa Valley was booked into Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside on Oct. 25 on suspicion of grand theft, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
He was released the same day on $20,000 bail.
Deputies responded to a call on Oct. 23 regarding equipment theft, according to sheriff’s Sgt. Brent Ruiz.
A reporting party told authorities that he could not find the equipment while working at a city event in the 8900 block of Limonite Avenue. Surveillance footage captured a suspect allegedly taking the items and fleeing the scene, Ruiz said.
Samano was identified as the suspect, and was taken into custody without incident on Oct. 25 in the 8800 block of Limonite Avenue.
Deputies recovered the equipment and returned it to the city, officials said.
Anyone with information on the theft was asked to contact Ruiz at 951-955-2600.
