A 40-year-old woman suspected of possible arson was rescued Tuesday after being discovered in a rock quarry in Pacoima.

Firefighters responded to the 12500 block of Branford Street just before 11 a.m. after receiving reports of a woman needing rescue from about 150 feet down a slope in a quarry, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Roughly five hours later, the woman was able to climb out of the quarry with some assistance, and she was taken to a hospital in unknown condition, officials said.

It was unclear how the woman wound up down the slope.

The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed the woman was a “possible arson” suspect, but no details about the alleged crime were released.

Aerial footage showed rescue crews helping the woman climb back up the hillside, where she appeared to be taken into custody before being taken to a hospital.
