A 29-year-old man was killed Thursday when his vehicle went over the side of a cliff near Arcadia in the Angeles National Forest.

The crash was reported about 8 a.m. Thursday on Chantry Flat Road near the Santa Anita Dam, according to a watch commander at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Temple Station.

A county worker saw the car leaning over a cliff, then going down the embankment toward the road leading to the dam, the lieutenant said.

It was unclear how the vehicle ended up in the predicament.

“It looks like the occupant in the vehicle was ejected and was pronounced dead at the scene,” he said, adding that the man carried no identification.

The county medical examiner was summoned to the location and later identified the man as Mark Camberos.

The Sierra Madre Fire Department also responded to the scene.
