The death of a 72-year-old woman on the east end of Perris raised concerns about what may have happened to her, though authorities Friday were tight-lipped about the specific circumstances.
The victim, whose identity was not immediately released, was discovered comatose shortly after 8 p.m. Thursday in the 3900 block of East Ellis Avenue, near Goetz Road, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
It was unclear whether she was on a sidewalk, outside a business or somewhere else. The location is mixed industrial and residential.
Sgt. Lance Stoyer said patrol deputies summoned paramedics, who attempted to resuscitate the woman, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Due to the nature of the female’s death, investigators from the Central Homicide Unit were notified,” Stoyer said. “The investigation is ongoing, and no additional information is available at this time.”
He did not disclose whether there were visible injuries or anything else suspicious.
No arrests have been made.
An autopsy was pending on the victim Friday.
Anyone with information relevant to the investigation was asked to contact homicide detectives at 951-955-2777.

I was shocked to hear about the suspicious circumstances surrounding the senior’s death in Perris. It’s heartbreaking to think about what she might have gone through. I hope the authorities can provide more information soon to give some closure to her family.
