Two 16-year-old boys were hospitalized and two teenage boys were arrested following an altercation in the parking lot of an Office Depot Friday, with police saying all four are believed to be students at nearby Burbank High School.
Officers responded around 2:45 p.m. Friday to the 200 block of East Burbank Boulevard, near San Fernando Boulevard, to reports of a dispute resulting in a boy on being stabbed, Burbank Police Department Lt. Derek Green told City News Service.
When officers arrived, they found a crime scene in the parking lot of the retail center near Burbank High School, but the suspects and victims had fled before police arrived.
Police later learned that two 16-year-old boys were taken to Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center with several stab wounds. Both were reported to be in stable condition, though the extent of their injuries was not disclosed.
A vehicle connected to the attack was found at an apartment complex in the 300 block of South Third Street, where two Burbank boys, ages 16 and 17, were arrested, police said.
The teens were booked on suspicion of attempted murder, with charges pending review by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. Their names were not released because of their ages.
The motive for the altercation and the source of the dispute remain under investigation.
