A man suspected of fatally shooting a 34-year-old man in Lake Elsinore was behind bars Monday.
Ian Norwood Wentz, 47, of Lake Elsinore, was booked into Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta Monday on suspicion of murder, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department. His bail was set at $1 million.
Deputies responded to a report of a man down shortly after 8:40 p.m. Saturday in the 2000 block of East Lakeshore Drive, according to sheriff’s Sgt. Alberto Loureiro.
They found a victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The man, identified as Garrett Pickering of Lake Elsinore, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
The alleged motive and circumstances behind the shooting were not immediately available.
Wentz surrendered to homicide investigators at the Lake Elsinore sheriff’s station on Sunday, Loureiro said.
