A 38-year-old man suspected of threatening a Wildomar city official was out of custody Tuesday on a $20,000 bond.
Cody Joseph Salazar of Murrieta was arrested and booked into the Byrd Detention Center Sunday night on suspicion of making terrorist threats and threatening a public official. Salazar posted bond Monday morning and was released from jail.
According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, the suspect allegedly made unspecified threats to harm the victim, whose name was not disclosed, Saturday.
The official called 911, and the matter was turned over to the sheriff’s Special Enforcement Team, Lt. Jeff Reese said.
“Salazar was positively identified as the individual making the threats,” culminating in an arrest warrant being obtained and served on him at his Copper Court residence, where he was taken into custody without incident,” Reese said.
No further details were provided, including what might have led to the alleged threats.
No one was physically assaulted.
“The sheriff’s office takes a zero tolerance approach to threats against public officials and any member of the public,” Reese said. “These types of incidents will receive our full attention.”
Background information on Salazar was unavailable.
