A 28-year-old man with a criminal history dating back to 2016 was charged Wednesday with fatally shooting a man in Huntington Beach.
Luis Angel Mireles was accused of killing 42-year-old Ryan Daniel Ennis of Anaheim on Sunday.
Police responded to reports of shots fired just before 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Ash Lane and Mandrell Drive, police said.
Mireles has pending cases against him for possessing a deadly weapon and illegal substance in jail as well as manufacturing a deadly weapon in custody, all felonies, according to court records.
Mireles had been released from jail Oct. 17, according to jail records.
Mireles is also facing a felony count of stalking with a restraining order, a felony, and a misdemeanor count of reckless driving.
In a probation violation petition in June he was accused of sending a woman pictures of guns.
Mireles pleaded guilty to fleeing police and reckless driving in October of last year. He was on probation in that case until September of next year.
According to the June probation violation petition, he has a prior criminal history of possessing guns, ammunition and promoting a gang.
Mireles was charged with murder with a sentencing enhancement for the discharge of a gun causing death. Mireles was scheduled to be arraigned Dec. 1.
