A 71-year-old man who was killed in a crash on the Santa Ana (5) Freeway in Boyle Heights was identified by county authorities Tuesday.
The victim, who was identified by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office as Cesar Biteranta, was pronounced dead at the scene, said Margaret Stewart, spokeswoman for the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The crash involved a car and a big rig and was reported about 12:50 p.m. Monday on the northbound side of the freeway south of Indiana Street, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The collision occurred on the right side of northbound lanes.
No other injuries were reported, said Stewart, who added firefighters assisted in the recovery of Biteranta’s body.
