A pedestrian walking on the San Diego (405) Freeway in Van Nuys was killed after they were struck by a vehicle, the California Highway Patrol said Thursday.
CHP officers responded at 10:12 p.m. Wednesday to the southbound freeway and Victory Boulevard where they learned the victim was walking in the HOV lane when the vehicle struck the person, a CHP spokesman told City News Service.
The victim — whose name, gender and age was not immediately known — was pronounced dead at the scene by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics.
The CHP issued a SigAlert that closed the HOV lane and three lanes of the southbound freeway at the Victory exit for three hours while they investigated the cause of the collision.
