Firefighters took less than 30 minutes Tuesday to knock down a fire at a Koreatown apartment building.

Los Angeles Fire Department crews were called at 4:28 a.m. to 255 S. Catalina St., north of West Third Street, where they encountered heavy smoke on the second floor, LAFD spokeswoman Jennifer Middleton.

Crews were able to subdue the flames in 25 minutes, Middleton said.

No major injuries were immediately reported, although a male resident in the unit above the affected apartment was evaluated at the scene by paramedics. It was unclear if that person required hospital treatment.

There was no immediate word on the cause of the fire.
