A man barricaded himself in a residential area of Walnut Park Friday, prompting a SWAT-style response from Special Enforcement Bureau deputies.
No details were immediately released by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department about the events that led up to the man holing up in the 2800 block of Broadway, east of South Alameda Street, in the unincorporated Walnut Park area.
The situation began about 7:30 a.m. Friday, according to the sheriff’s department.
Crisis negotiators were trying to get the man to surrender, and deputies with the sheriff’s East Los Angeles station called for an SEB response about an hour later, the Sheriff’s Information Bureau reported.
