Authorities Monday were investigating a fatal collision involving a pedestrian on the Santa Ana (5) Freeway in Santa Fe Springs.
The crash occurred at 7:12 p.m. Sunday on the southbound Santa Ana Freeway just south of Valley View Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A witness told the CHP a vehicle ran over a male pedestrian who was down in lanes, and failed to stop as required by law.
The CHP stopped traffic at Carmenita Road and requested that Caltrans shut down the HOV lane and lanes 1 and 2 for the investigation.
There was no word on why the person was originally down in lanes nor whether he was an adult or juvenile.
