A pedestrian was struck while crossing a Home Gardens street Wednesday, suffering head trauma.

The “pedestrian down” call was received at 4:22 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Magnolia Avenue and Neece Street, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The agency said the victim, whose identity was not disclosed, was hit by a sedan when the person tried to cross Magnolia.

Corona Fire Department crews were near the location and responded in place of Riverside County Fire Department personnel.

CHP officers temporarily shut down all lanes on Magnolia while paramedics assessed and treated the pedestrian, who was taken to Riverside Community Hospital with a head injury. The victim was conscious, according to reports from the scene.

The motorist who struck the pedestrian was detained by officers, but it was unclear whether the person might be arrested Wednesday afternoon.

Just before 5 p.m., all of the lane closures were lifted.
