A man in his mid-40s was found dead Monday inside a vehicle in the Palms section of Los Angeles, the victim of an apparent gunshot wound to the head, prompting a homicide investigation.
Police received a call about 8:05 a.m. Monday reporting a shooting in the 10200 block of Washington Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The victim was found inside the vehicle in a parking lot, LAPD Officer Drake Madison said.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
A window on the passenger side of the vehicle appeared to have been shot out, according to a broadcast report.
Authorities at the scene told reporters the man had been shot while sitting in his vehicle. Aerial footage showed a dark-colored SUV stopped near the Sony Pictures Entertainment studio, with the victim found deceased in the driver’s seat.
A stretch of Washington Boulevard was closed as LAPD homicide detectives investigated.
No suspect information was released.
