Authorities sought the public’s help Friday in locating an at-risk 81-year-old man last seen in South Los Angeles, prompting the issuance of a Silver Alert.
Phillips Akinwale was last seen at 2 p.m. Thursday near West 82nd Street and Halldale Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol, which activated the alert on behalf of the Los Angeles Police Department.
Akinwale was described as a 5-foot-8-inch-tall man weighing 180 pounds with gray hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a yellow shirt.
Anyone with information regarding Akinwale’s whereabouts was urged to call 911.
The CHP established the Silver Alert program to issue and coordinate alerts involving the unexplained or suspicious disappearances of the elderly, developmentally disabled or cognitively impaired individuals.
