A pedestrian was killed by a vehicle in Palm Springs Sunday in what police believe was a hit-and-run accident.

Officers responded to a report of a deceased person on the side of the roadway on state Route 111 between Tipton Road and Snow Creek Road at around 10:40 a.m. Sunday, according to the Palm Springs Police Department.

Authorities said a bicyclist traveling through the area reported observing an individual on the side of the road. Upon arrival, officers confirmed the person was deceased.

Investigators believe the involved vehicle left the scene prior to officers’ arrival.

The identity of the victim was withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The suspect vehicle was believed to be white and to have sustained front-end or front passenger-side damage, including possible headlight damage, the police department announced. The time of the crash was not immediately known.

Anyone with additional information about the case was encouraged to contact the PSPD Traffic Division at 760-323-8125.
