A suspect allegedly armed with a firearm was shot and critically injured by Burbank police Tuesday.
Officers responded at 1:20 p.m. Tuesday to the 1200 block of West Magnolia Boulevard, a few blocks west of Victory Boulevard, to reports of a firearm theft at a business, according to the Burbank Police Department.
Police said responding officers observed the suspect running eastbound on Magnolia Boulevard while allegedly armed with a firearm.
“During the encounter, the suspect’s actions precipitated an officer-involved shooting,” the police department said in a statement.
Following the shooting, officers immediately dispatched paramedics to the scene. The Burbank Fire Department took the suspect to Providence Holy Cross Trauma Center in critical condition, police said.
No officers sustained any injuries during the shooting.
The suspect’s identity was not immediately released as detectives investigated the alleged theft leading up to the shooting.
