Two people were behind bars Friday for alleged firearms- and narcotics-related violations following a law enforcement operation targeting drugs and illegal weapons in parts of the Coachella Valley.

Authorities conducted a traffic stop Monday for unspecified reasons and found a woman inside the vehicle in possession of packaged methamphetamine and marijuana, according to the Indio Police Department.

Kiana Box, 29, was arrested and booked into Benoit Detention Center in Indio on suspicion of sale of meth and marijuana, police said.

Bail information was not immediately available.

Detectives then served a search warrant in the 47000 block of Monroe Street in Indio, where they allegedly recovered a stolen revolver, a fully automatic AR-style pistol and fentanyl packaged for sale. A man associated with the residence was not found and was wanted on multiple weapons-related violations, police said.

A separate search warrant was served in the 47000 block of Iris Way in La Quinta, where officers arrested 22-year-old Hugo Anaya after finding a Glock pistol, police said.

He was booked into the Benoit Detention Center on suspicion of weapons violations, according to police.

Bail information was not immediately available.

“This operation is another proactive enforcement effort by the Indio Police Department Street Crimes Unit to disrupt criminal activity and to ensure the safety of our community,” the department said in a statement.
