Firefighters hunted down the source of flames seen through the roof of a four-story Sherman Oaks apartment building Saturday so they could put it out and spare adjacent units.
The fire was reported at 6:10 p.m. Saturday at 15024 W. Moorpark St., according to the Los Angeles Fire Department’s Jennifer Middleton. That is just southeast of the Ventura (101) and San Diego (405) freeway interchange.
The firefighters located the fire smoldering in the wall next to a fireplace chimney, opened it up and put out the fire before it could spread to adjacent units, Middleton said.
No injuries were reported, she said.
